YACHT’s new album “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler” come out last week, and today the Portland-via-Los-Angeles electro-pop duo of Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans have shared this cool new video for the glorious disco title track. In their own words: “This is a science fiction video that uses only existing technologies—VR, drones, self-balancing scooters (“hoverboards”), telepresence robots, selfie sticks, Soylent, and vape pens. All of these things have variably been presented as symbols of our futuristic world, but up close, they just feel straight-up comical.”
Directed by Eugene Kotlyarenko.
The “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler” LP, their first album in four years since the release of “Shangri-La” on DFA in 2011, is out now via Downtown Records. Get it here.
