Portland-via-Los-Angeles electro-poppers YACHT, comprised of Jona Bechtolt & Claire L. Evans, have a new album on the way. Entiled “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler”, the new record marks the pair’s first album in four years since the release of “Shangri-La” on DFA in 2011. To whet our appetites, YACHT have shared the album’s title track, a glorious disco tune that’s incredibly catchy. You can watch the 4K lyric video for new single above.
Speaking about the new single, Claire L. Evans says: “It’s the most cynical song on the album by a mile and by cynical I mean sad…There’s nothing more powerful than a pop song in terms of conveying a message succinctly and in a memorable way. If you can get a hook into someone’s brain, you have them forever. It doesn’t even matter if people don’t immediately understand what the song’s about.”
YACHT’s fifth album “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler” will drop on October 16 via Downtown Records. Pre-order it here.
