Earlier this year, Melbourne-based electronic producer Rohan Newman, aka Roland Tings, graced us with his self-titled debut album on Prins Thomas’ acclaimed label Internasjonal. Now, he’s back with his great new track, the blissful yet rugged “Hedonist”. Based around a bunch of samples recorded on a hike to the top of Mt Mcleod in the Mount Buffalo National Park in Victoria, Australia, “Hedonist” is an eight-minute euphoric ride full of swirling synths and deep, warm vibes. According to the man himself, the track “tried to capture the open meadow, the rushing cold water thru the scorching hot Australian alpine bush, huge moths circling the top of the mountain at sunset, gravel crunching under feet.” Dive in.
The single “Hedonist” is the first taste from Roland Tings’ forthcoming new EP, which is expected to arrive early next year on the newly formed imprint Soothsayer.
