Aimes: “Let’s Melt”
Aimes invites us to get lost in a labyrinth of classic rave sounds mixed with forward-thinking kaleidoscopic psychedelia.
Aimes is back with a new album called “Let’s Melt”, a continuous and seamless listening experience.
Brooklyn-based DJ, producer and Wonder Stories label boss Aman Ellis, aka Aimes, is someone we’ve been following for a very long time. Over the past few years, he has put out a string of quality releases of different styles and moods, jumping from disco to Balearic to house or acid-tinged left-field techno. Psychedelic at heart, Aimes continues his fine form of run, constantly seeking to expand his palette of sounds.
Now, Aimes returns to his homebase with his second full-length album, entitled “Let’s Melt”. Designed to be a continuous and seamless listening experience, the hour plus long experimental journey is steeped in off-kilter rhythms, african percussion, found sounds, stripped down breaks, and loads of acid. With this finely crafted, eclectic new record, Aimes invites us to get lost in a labyrinth of classic rave sounds mixed with forward-thinking kaleidoscopic psychedelia.
Before it drops, we’re psyched to premiere one of the record’s many highlights, the track track “Let’s Melt”, which sees Aimes delivering an epic ride from start to finish. This synth-driven track filled with vocoder vocals and hints of acid is yet another fine example of Aimes ever-evolving sound.
Speaking about “Let’s Melt”, Aimes says: “With ‘Let’s Melt’, both the album and the title track, I wanted there to be an element of ephemeral weirdness, and sort of oneness with the universe that can only be understood through certain music with guidance and assistance from blessed chemical compounds. I like music that is different and against the status quo so with the album, and this track, it takes classic sounds found in dance music and cranks ups the weirdness. All this is evident in the lyrics. It’s the perspective of someone experiencing a crescendo of music and awareness.”
Play it loud exclusively on LAGASTA.
The “Let’s Melt” LP arrives on March 15th via Wonder Stories.
