Max Jones: “1989”
The elusive Mexican producer delivers an energetic hypnotic groover.
Let’s go back to the ’80s with Max Jones, one of the most talented and obscure producers the Mexican dance scene has to offer. Known equally for his solo work as well as one of the Los Mekanikos, the elusive musician, producer and DJ has made a name for himself with killer releases over the past few years on labels such as Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant, My Favourite Robot, electrique music and Duro to name a few.
Now, Max Jones dished up three driving, dancefloor-worthy original tracks for his new EP, entitled “1989”, on Calypso Records, a label run by Thomass Jackson and Inigo Vontier. The record comes complete with a fine remix of the title track by Peruvian masters-of-their-craft Dengue Dengue Dengue. The producer’s unmistakable signature hypnotic rhythms are all over these three tracks, bringing some serious vibes on the dancefloor. Our pick is the record’s title track, an energetic hypnotic groover tailor made for late-night rides. Play it loud.
