Enter the world of Grandbrothers, the German duo of Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel, who create their own unique sound using only a grand piano and a laptop. Having impressed with their debut “Ezra” EP, backed with remixes by Greg Wilson, Optimo’s JD Twitch, and Kim Brown, Grandbrothers are getting ready to drop their debut album, entitled “Dilation”.
The 12-track record is said to “build into sweeping, cinematic soundscapes, recalling the structural and rhythmic qualities of club music as well as composers such as Steve Reich and Ryuichi Sakamoto’s collaborations with Alva Noto.” Our first taste from the pair’s forthcoming album comes in the form of “Wuppertal”, a delicate piano-driven piece that’s definitely worth checking out. You can grab a free download of “Wuppertal” here via XLR8R.
Grandbrothers debut LP “Dilation” will arrive on March 23 via Berlin-based label FILM.
