We’ve been following Favored Nations for a good while now. Consisting of Adelaide-based producer James Curd, multi-instrumentalist Surhan Sidhu, touring guitarist for Empire Of The Sun and Stockholm-based singer Morgan Phalen, who has previously worked with Justice, the Trans-Pacific outfit will drop their debut album “The Great Unknown” next month. After sharing the record’s lead single “Always” back in June, Favored Nations take us for yet another ride with their new track “I Can See You”, a sunny slice of disco-infused pop. It’s a perfect example of what we can expect from the band’s forthcoming album.
The 18-track record of sunlit pop, which also includes their biggest hit to date “The Setup”, will drop October 2 via Antler Records/etcetc. “It’s impossible to define the space from which our music is coming from. They are very immediate songs you could sing to, or dance to, they’re almost useful songs, in a lot of ways. They’re able to accompany…living,” says Morgan Phalen.
