A Track A Day: Cornelius Doctor

With the current circumstances and the weird, turbulent times all over the globe, we asked our friends to choose a favourite track or an album for these isolated days, and share it with us along with a photo. A track a day keeps the bad vibes away. Stay safe.

Today we are welcome pur beloved French DJ, producer and Hard First label boss Cornelius Doctor, who recently dropped his debut EP “Honest Paradigm” for Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant, a great four-tracker which follows a string of quality remixes and EPs on labels such as Tom Tom Disco, Ombra Intl, Duro, Permanent Vacation and Playground, amongst others. Cornelius Doctor shares with us one of his favourite records, The Cure’s classic 1980 LP “Seventeen Seconds”.

In his own words: “This album was released the year I was born in 1980, I guess that was a sign. When I was 6 my dad got one of the first CD players and came home with ‘Seventeen Seconds’. I remembered playing it again and again, dancing in the living room and dressing myself like the band on the pictures in the booklet. The funny thing is that on the side, I was listening to some cheesy music from cartoons. I could never managed to play it in one of my sets though, maybe I just feel I have something too personal with it. ‘Play For Today’ and ‘In Your House’ are still two of my favorite tracks ever, the emotion is never gone, and I can see now how much this has influenced my music.”

Cornelius Doctor’s EP “Honest Paradigm” is out now via Correspondant.
