A Track A Day: Marco Gallerani
For LAGASTA’s ongoing series, we asked our friends to choose a favourite track or an album for these weird times, and share it with us along with a photo. A track a day keeps the bad vibes away. Today we welcome our beloved Italian music selector and DJ Marco Gallerani, the boss of the ever-excellent label Hell Yeah Recordings and founder of the DJ team Ballearic Gabba Soundsystem and Buena Onda. Marco Gallerani shares with us Taboo’s “Hypnotique”, the B-side on the 1988 “Number 6″ 12”.
In his own words: “After months of home-listening only, where I’ve re-discovered the joy of listening to albums from start to finish, I’ve finally started to pack up a bag to play some Balearic selections around… Taboo’s ‘Hypnotique’ always make its dirty work. I first spotted it many years ago in an old mix by Phil Mison (who else?)… it’s the B-side of a very cheap record and it has the right amount of all the obvious clichés to make a great timeless balearic tune, cheese included, of course.”
The second “Buena Onda” compilation is just around the corner. The new four-tracker is a delicious sampler featuring a remix from Calm, some 303 Balearic action from Iceland, Italian house newcomer Relative and a fresh Gallo rework. “Buena Onda” is, of course, the cult Berlin-based party that constantly redefines Balearic music. It is run by Marco Gallerani with resident DJ and co-founder Gallo and is a party that is both eclectic and euphoric, whether serving up slow acid or dreamy downtempo.
